The community is encouraged to head down to the Rotary Athletic Park of Olds this weekend to cheer on the Olds Spitfires.
Spitfirest 15 year old catcher Walker Overwater is excited for the opportunity to try and win Baseball Alberta’s U-15 double ‘A’ Tier 1 provincial championship tournament on their home diamond.
Overwater explains who the Spitfires coach is and looks forward to an exciting weekend at the Rotary Athletic Park of Olds.
The Olds Spitfires are in Pool A for the round robin portion of the provincial tournament with the Black Gold 47’s from Leduc/Beaumont, the Barrhead Orioles and the Chestermere Crushers. Stettler, Strathmore and Parkland are the four teams in Pool B.
The first game for Spitfires is this evening at 5:30 at the Rotary Athletic Park of Olds against the Black Gold 47’s. Overwater expects the Black Gold 47’s to be a tough test for the Spitfires they start the tourney.
Olds will face Barrhead at 8:30am on Saturday and Chestermere that afternoon at 2:30.
As long as no tiebreakers are required, the U-15 double ‘A’ provincial championship will be determined at 3pm on Sunday. Check out the Spitfires Baseball Facebook page for more details.
