The community is encouraged to head down to the Rotary Athletic Park of Olds this weekend to cheer on the Olds Spitfires.
Spitfires 15 year old catcher Walker Overwater is excited for the opportunity to try and win Baseball Alberta’s U-15 double ‘A’ Tier 1 provincial championship tournament on their home diamond.
The Olds Spitfires are in Pool A for the round robin portion of the provincial tournament with the Black Gold 47’s from Leduc/Beaumont, the Barrhead Orioles and the Chestermere Crushers. Stettler, Strathmore and Parkland are also in town this weekend.
The first game for Spitfires is this evening at 5:30 at the Rotary Athletic Park of Olds against the Black Gold 47’s. Overwater expects the Black Gold 47’s to be a tough test for the Spitfires they start the tourney.
Olds will face Barrhead at 8:30am on Saturday and Chestermere that afternoon at 2:30.
As long as no tiebreakers are required, the U-15 double ‘A’ provincial championship will be determined at 3pm on Sunday.
