The Town of Olds is home to an award winning radio station.
96.5 CKFM has been recognized as the Radio Station of the Year in the small or medium sized market category by Country Music Alberta.
The honours were bestowed upon CKFM during the 11th annual C-M-A-B Awards last Sunday in Red Deer. Owners Brian and Melanie Hepp reacted to the news.
Brian discusses what the goal is for the blend of music played on CKFM and how they try to achieve it.
They were surprised to be nominated and excited to receive an award for what they do to contribute to local Alberta music.
Through opportunities like CKFM’s Star Search contest, Melanie says they have been able to give artists from this province a chance to have their music heard in Central Alberta for the past 18 years.
They realize that these types of accomplishments are also a reflection of the individuals you have hired and share your time with at the office.
As things progress and start to open up from the pandemic, Brian says 96.5 CKFM hopes to continue to promote Alberta country music artists and local artists by getting back to holding events like a Star Search contest again in the future.
Based out of the Town of Olds, CKFM first hit the airwaves in Central Alberta on Groundhog Day in 2004.
