The Brooks Bandits will meet the Spruce Grove Saints in the AJHL Final.
Brooks finished up a four game sweep of the Oilers in the South Division Final by winning 3-1 last night in Okotoks, while Spruce Grove eliminated the Thunder thanks to a 1-zip Game 4 victory in the North Division Final in Drayton Valley.
Former Olds Grizzlys Goaltender Tristan Martin only had to make 11 saves for Spruce Grove to earn his first career AJHL playoff shutout. The Saints outshot the Thunder 41 to 11.
Either the Bandits or the Saints have won every AJHL title since 2010 with each team capturing 5 league championships. This will also be the fifth time since 2013 that Brooks and Spruce Grove have met in the Alberta Junior Hockey League Final. The Bandits beat the Saints in 3 of the previous 4 matchups.
The best of seven series between the Brooks Bandits and the Spruce Grove Saints will begin with Game 1 in Brooks on Friday, April 29th. Brooks led the league with 106 points (52-6-2), while Spruce Grove was not far behind with 97 (46-9-5).
The 2022 AJHL Champion will advance to compete in the Centennial Cup in Estevan, Saskatchewan from May 19th to the 29th.
