Today is the Royal LePage Wildrose Real Estate Radiothon, in support of the Mountain View Emergency Shelter Building Fund.
Throughout the day on 96.5 CKFM, we are featuring 2 key interviews in hopes that their stories will inspire you to donate to this worthy cause.
Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society promotes and supports Outreach Services for individuals and families who may be in an abusive relationship, are seeking information surrounding issues of domestic violence and/or are pursuing healthier lifestyle changes.
They operate with the help of 6 volunteers and 1 employee, Emilie Webb is the Shelter’s Outreach Coordinator.
There is currently no physical shelter in Mountain View County, those suffering family violence are often forced to move to an urban centre to get the care they need.
This forces families to be displaced, it often removes an individual from a routine or environment that otherwise might have benefited their recovery.
This year, we hope to raise $50,000 for the building fund.
Charitable receipts will be made available for donations made, you can also bid on some great auction items at OldsAuction.com.
Brain and Patti Gardner are well known members of the community, listen to their story below.
Brian has committed his time to building the shelter when they are ready to break ground, his contributions will go a long way to realizing this dream for so many in our area.
Mountain View Emergancy Shelter Outreach Coordinator, Emilie Webb, joined CKFM for a conversation about the Radiothon and it’s importance to the group.
Royal LePage Wildrose Real Estate has been supporting the Shelter for several years now, this is the 2nd edition of the Radiothon.
Merrell and Clare Dickie discuss why the believe in the cause, how much they’ve raised so far, and their hopes for this year.
It takes a group of dedicated volunteers to keep the shelter running as smoothly as they can with the limited resources they have.
One of those committed volunteers is Joe Carignan, a former RCMP officer and someone who has giving a lot of his time to this cause.
He took some time to speak to me about the Radiothon earlier this week.
Donations can be made now at RLP.ca/Radiothon2022.
