This is the ninth week of Alberta’s transition to weekly COVID-19 reporting.
The numbers shared on Wednesday (May 18th) cover the time period from May 10th to May 16th.
3,106 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the province during the past week based on a total of 18,349 tests.
According to the geospatial data on the alberta.ca website, 6 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Sundre during the past 7 days, 8 in the Didsbury/Carstairs South Mountain View County area, 12 in Olds, and 16 in Innisfail.
There are currently 1,165 individuals in hospital in the province due to COVID-19, which is down by 60 from last week’s total. 42 of those patients are in intensive care units – that is up by 5 from last week.
61 new deaths related to the virus have occurred during the past week. Alberta’s total number of deaths due to COVID-19 during the pandemic is 4,452.
