The MLA for Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills says the Town of Olds will be receiving an ‘Alberta Age-Friendly Recognition Award’ on Friday, June 10th.
As Seniors’ Week continues, Josephine Pon – the Minister of Seniors and Housing For Alberta – will be presenting the certificate to Mayor Judy Dahl and the Community Lifestyles Committee at the Olds Evergreen Centre. The event is from 2 until 4pm and everyone is welcome.
Nathan Cooper says it a great recognition of the good work so many community volunteers have been doing to help make Olds an age-friendly town.
Cooper is also pleased to see a number of prospective seniors housing projects planned for this constituency with Mountain View Seniors’ Housing projects in the works for Carstairs and the Trochu area, as well as another down in the Standard/Wheatland County area.
He adds, it is a great opportunity to take some time and reflect on some of the community leaders in our region who have done such a great job to make this area a great place to live.
Seniors’ Week has been part of the yearly calendar in the province since 1986 to celebrate and recognize seniors throughout Alberta.
Meanwhile it is a busy weekend in the constituency for MLA Cooper. He will be taking in the Village of Bieseker’s Centennial celebrations on Saturday – there is also community supper in Trochu, as well as Pete Knight Days in Crossfield.
Town Hall meetings with MLA Cooper are planned for the Three Hills Community Memorial Centre on Main Street on Monday, June 13th and for the Standard Community Hall on Yorick Avenue on Tuesday, June 14th. Start time for both is 7pm.
