Innisfail, Alberta – Today (September 1st) marks the return to school for most students, and also the end of summer vacation for a lot of us.
This mean more motor vehicles on our roads; and September starting, cooler temperatures, and possibly more rain. These could make our day to day commuting longer, and more difficult. This is why It is important to remember basic driving habits to avoid collisions, and yes, violation tickets.
The Innisfail Integrated Traffic Unit would like you to remember to abide by the speed limits, and to keep sufficient space between you and other vehicles to give you time to react in case of an emergency, or encountering a road hazard. Doing those two things, will significantly reduce the risks of being involved in a collision.
With our children returning to school, it is also of the utmost importance that the speed limits in school zones be respected, and to pay attention to stop signs, pedestrian cross walks, and flashing red and amber lights.
The RCMP and Alberta Sheriffs, will be ensuring road users safety by doing pro-active patrols, checkstops, and when necessary will be issuing violation tickets. Together we can make the end of summer, and the return to school safe for everyone.
