There are 996 individuals hospitalized in Alberta due to COVID-19 – that is an all-time high for the province. The number of COVID patients in intensive care units is 222.
29 new deaths have occurred – that is the third highest single-day total reported since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of lives lost due to the virus in Alberta is 2,574.
The number of active cases of COVID-19 is 20,917 – up by 303 from September 20th.
2,011 new variant cases have been identified.
There are 5,690 active cases of COVID-19 in the Edmonton Zone, 5,487 in the Calgary Zone, and 3,666 in the Central Zone.
Crossfield is down to 37 active cases of the virus. Sundre is down to 56, the Three Hills/Highway 21 area is up to 79, Olds is down to 91, the Didsbury/Carstairs/South Mountain View County area is down to 118, Sylvan Lake is up to 149, Innisfail is up to 160, and Rocky Mountain House is up to 291.
Red Deer County is up to 340 active cases of COVID-19, while Mountain View County is down to 172.
More than 260,000 (260,219) Albertans have recovered from the virus.
As of September 20th, over 5.8 million (5,853,057) doses of vaccine have been administered in Alberta. In Didsbury, 59 percent of people of all ages have been immunized with at least one dose, while 52.1 percent are fully vaccinated.
