Hockey Alberta’s Prospects Cup is coming up this week in Red Deer.
The top 160 male hockey players born in the year 2009 will be on the ice at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre from Thursday, May 12th through Sunday, May 13th.
The rosters were selected during four regional camps held last month in Vegreville, Olds, Calgary and Edmonton.
Jason Jaffray from Olds is an assistant coach for Team Capital Green.
Team South Black features forwards Crew Martinson from Olds and Matteus Lucas from Rocky Mountain House. Team South Gold includes forward Rylan Johnson from Sylvan Lake and Tayte Hoiland from Rocky Mountain House, along with a pair of defencemen from Sylvan Lake – Mark Broks and Alex Mathieson.
The Prospects Cup is the first step of the Hockey Alberta Development Program and it offers second year U-13 athletes, coaches, trainers and administrators an opportunity to discover the qualities of competitive hockey in a well-organized team tournament.
