The Town of Innisfail proclaimed May 9th through the 13th as Economic Development Week.
Innisfail Mayor Jean Barclay it is a way to celebrate a new strategy the town has put in place.
She says the Town of Innisfail’s economic development strategy is focused on business attraction as well as growing the business community. According to Barclay, research tells them that 75 per cent of job growth will come from within the community from existing businesses. She adds, they are also focusing on manufacturing, retail, agri-business and energy as top priorities.
Barclay hopes to see plenty of participation from the community as they move forward with the Town’s recently adopted new Community Economic Development Strategy.
Barclay says since adopting the strategy, the Town of Innisfail has received guidance from community leaders through the newly-formed Community Economic Development Advisory Committee.
The first orders of business included investment readiness, meeting with industry leaders and forging a partnership with the Innisfail & District Chamber of Commerce.
