Premier Danielle Smith says residents who have been forced out of their homes by wildfires will receive emergency financial assistance.
She says the government will start providing the help as early as Tuesday, May 9th.
Smith says it will help those Albertans pay for the cost of accommodation, food and other basic necessities.
The province says evacuees can apply for the assistance online and the payments will be made through e-transfer.

Premier Danielle Smith says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has assured her of the federal government’s support during the province’s wildfire crisis.
Smith says she spoke to the prime minister over the phone, while the province has submitted a letter of request for assistance to Ottawa.
Trudeau says the federal government will work with the Red Cross to set up a matching fund to help those affected by the fires.
Some 29-thousand people have been forced from their homes in several communities by more than 100 active fires.
