Gage Giblin is one of the promising rookies on the Olds Grizzlys roster who was able to gain valuable postseason experience as part of his freshman year in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
The 18 year old forward from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida was the lone rookie on the local AJHL club’s roster to hit double digits in goals during the regular season with 10. He finished second in rookie scoring for Olds with 22 points in 49 games. 17 year old forward Mitch Patrick from Airdire was the highest scoring rookie for the Grizzlys with 26 points in 47 games.
The Grizzlys fell 3 games to 1 to the Grande Prairie Storm in a best of five AJHL Play-In series this week. The series included an overtime win for the Storm in Game 3 in Olds on Sunday, March 10th.
Giblin says it was a really close series.
He looks forward to seeing how much better their young roster of players can be by the time next season rolls around.
Giblin learned a lot about himself and his teammates while they battled the Storm.
Giblin had a goal and an assist during the four game series against the Storm.
A total of 15 rookie skaters saw at least one game of action in the postseason AJHL Play-In round series against Grande Prairie for the Grizzlys.
