The Innisfail Eagles have won back to back senior men’s AAA hockey provincial championships.
They finished off a three game sweep of the Stony Plain Eagles in the best of five provincial final by winning 5-2 on Friday in Innisfail.
Chase Thudium once again paced the offense for the Birds with 2 goals and an assist in Game 3. The 27 year old forward from Sylvan Lake led all scorers in the series with 6 goals and 9 points.
This is the second year in a row that Innisfail has swept Stony Plain in the provincial championship series and also won the Chinook Hockey League title.
After securing the provincial banner, the Innisfail Eagles will now turn their attention to the Allan Cup Challenge tournament. It is being hosted again this year by Ontario’s Dundas Real McCoys and it will run from April 20th through the 27th.
