Eight teams remain in the Western Hockey League playoffs and the conference semifinals began over the weekend.
The Eastern Conference’s top seed – the Blades – took the first two games of their best of seven clash with the Red Deer Rebels in Saskatoon. The Blades won Game 1 by the score of 4-1 on Friday, and then they outlasted the Rebels 2-1 in overtime in Game 2 on Sunday. 20 year old defenceman Charlie Wright from Olds has notched 1 assist through the first two games of the series giving him a total of 1 goal and 7 points through 7 playoff games for the Blades this spring.
The Warriors and the Swift Current Broncos are tied 1-1 after the first two games in Moose Jaw. Swift Current triumphed 7-2 in Game 1, but Moose Jaw bounced back to secure a similar 7-2 win in Game 2.
In the Western Conference, Prince George is up 2 games to none on Kelowna and Portland is up 2 games to none on Everett in their respective best of seven affairs.
